Midnight at the Well of Souls by Jack L. Chalker

Oh, what a wonderful book this is!

I picked up my copy in a used book store for $1.45 and it was worth every penny. The writing is fluid and incredibly adept at creating the sort of imagery you need in a book filled with aliens and esoteric space jargon made up by a science fiction author back in the 1970s.

Now please forgive me for my brevity in this review as I enjoyed this book so much that I find it hard to avoid talking about any of the fantastic events contained within. So let me just tell you that I love how the book unfolds. It starts with an unfathomable mystery, follows it with murder, and then opens up three more mysteries before you reach the half-way point. And while many authors struggle to tie up all the loose ends Mr. Chalker does a better job at doing so than most anyone I've read in years.

A fun, quick read that will be great fodder for your space faring games. Outstanding book!
